Phrases

We want to learn languages to communicate with those we encounter in our travels or new life.

What phrases did you find most useful when travelling or when you started living in a new country?

How about:

"I need to make a call." -to avoid talking to a weird guy

"How do I get to [...] by train/bus/foot?" 

"What is the price?"

"What time will we leave?"
"I'm sorry. My [language] is not very good..."
"Is there a restaurant you recommend nearby?"

Gotta learn them now....

Reason

Back in 2011, I started this blog to encourage people to learn from others about how they learn language. However, I didn't get very far in my posts. So here I am with an appropriate blog title and a journey to match.

We can always use a place to keep motivated to keep learning another language. It is difficult, but it is so rewarding.

I am learning Spanish and Mandarin because one of my life goals is to learn these languages to a good level in the next 5 years. Maybe I will, maybe I won't, but I'll try!

Now in 2015 I am off to China to share the gift of the crazy language of English with 3-18 year olds.

So, let's see how I go in adapting to the Chinese life!
